Biological Complexity (BioCom)

Abstract

The Biological Complexity (BioCom) program seeks to enhance the understanding of the basic processes associated with biological network interactions, communication, and control to enable novel approaches and technology development to improve warfighter readiness and resilience. Key advances expected from this research will include the identification of approaches to create stable, predictable, and dynamic control mechanisms of biological networks. Such information will allow the determination of a biosystem's state and enable the prediction of state. Applications range from infectious disease mitigation or prevention, maintaining warfighter health, to leveraging biological systems for optimal production of therapeutics.
