Operationalizing Hybrid Electric - Ground Vehicles
Abstract
Prototype representative vehicles, Armored Multi-Purpose Vehicle (AMPV), Stryker, Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV), and High Mobility Multi Purpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV), from existing Army platforms by adding mature Hybrid Electric (HE) technologies. Included as a supporting task is to establish policies to increase resilience and reduce fuel requirements. It is anticipated that these investments will demonstrate increase operational value as well as a reduction in operational energy. Objective is to measure the operational benefits of hybridization, which consists of increased operational range and silent watch endurance, reducing the platforms signature, adding a silent mobility capability, increasing power generation, and reducing joint force sustainment demands.
