Capability Development Program
Abstract
The Capability Development Program provides engineering support to enable compliance with Missile Defense System System Specification threat capabilities and addresses advanced threats. This task includes the redesign of select components to address obsolescence and improve reliability of the system. This task continues electronic protection and objective debris mitigation development efforts to reduce or eliminate the effect of corporate clutter and electronic attack on sensors. It develops, designs, and tests sensor mid-term discrimination improvements for X-Band radars, to include SBX threat discrimination improvements. This effort funds participation in far-term discrimination improvement threat model specifications, develops discrimination and countermeasure mitigation capability development, and funds studies of future sensor improvements. Additional software development activities include Terminal High Altitude Area Defense Missile Segment Enhancement fielding and integration, and X86 performance optimization to enhance processing speed, improvements to cybersecurity posture, additional development of sensor electronic protection for AN/TPY-2 and LRDR, and developmental information system enhancements. This effort includes threat updates and verification, core standards system engineering, and required updates to models, simulation, and performance assessment. Specific and/or unique accomplishments to each FY are as follows:
