Ground Systems & Fire Control

Abstract

The GMD GS enables control and operation of the GMD Element as part of the Missile Defense System. GS consists of the GFC, GMD Communication Network (GCN), IFICS Data Terminal (IDT), and Launch Site Components (silos, silo interface vaults (SIVs)). These components collect and process sensor data, perform mission planning and fire control, command the launch of GMD interceptors, communicate with interceptors in flight, and provide environmental support for GMD interceptors while in a perpetual readiness state. The GNI will expand upon the GCN to provide a common secure platform across all GWS components, improve real-time cyber integration, and improve the operator's ability to detect and respond to cyber events. Recurring work: -Continue implementation of software and hardware updates, improvements and remedies to address weaknesses discovered during testing -Continue implementation of additional cyber resiliency in GMD systems by developing system level requirements that flow to component level designs, allowing GMD systems to operate in a cyber-contested environment Specific and/or unique accomplishments to each FY are as follows:
