Advanced High Energy Laser Technology

Abstract

Investigate power scaling strategies for advanced solid-state lasers through the exploitation of the unique properties of advanced materials to develop higher power lasers with lower size, weight, and power requirements. This effort funds research to maximize output power towards theoretical limits, design and develop scalable power conversion with intelligent control for improved efficiency and resiliency, and designs and develops an optimized preliminary design fiber laser to best serve the purpose of power scaling analysis toward 5 kW and 50 kW of output power; assess scaled 50 kW power and thermal concepts.
