Next Generation Night Vision Imaging Technology (United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM))
Abstract
Validates the use of an electron bombarded active pixel sensor (EBAPS) low-light camera, in place of image intensification (I2) tubes in visual augmentation systems. The EBAPS camera will be integrated into a handheld night vision system/platform to conduct project testing. The primary outputs and efficiencies to be demonstrated in the project are: (1) improved resolution, reduced power, increased detection and identification ranges, better combat security; and (2) avoids RDT&E and production costs worth approximately $1.500 million.
