AIRCRAFT TECHNOLOGY

Abstract

The Aircraft Technology activity develops technologies for survivability and reduced observability, metrics are classified. It also develops new Naval air vehicle concepts and high impact, scaleable naval air vehicle technologies, such as - autonomous air vehicle command and control, helicopter and tiltrotor rotor and drive systems, aerodynamics, structures and flight controls for future and legacy air vehicles, which significantly increase the naval warfighter's capabilities, effectiveness, readiness, and safety, while reducing life cycle cost. This activity directly supports the Naval Aviation Enterprise Science and Technology Objectives and the Naval Science and Technology Strategic Plan, principally in the Platform Mobility Focus Area. The FY 2009 to FY 2010 decrease is due to the completion of several advanced concept and automonous system studies.
