Tactical (Airborne) Mission Networking (TMN)

Abstract

Provides for continued development of systems (software and hardware) to enable the aircraft to effectively adapt and overcome the challenges of the highly contested and congested Radio Frequency (RF) environment. This effort will enable the aircrew to use advanced radio waveforms and communications equipment that can survive and thrive in contested and congested radio frequency environments. Upgrading antennas, processors, radios and other enabling communications equipment will be a persistent requirement as the RF environment becomes increasingly more complex. Additionally, the Army intends to upgrade its networks every two years – so this funding will ensure Special Operations Aircraft can adapt and keep pace with both SOF and conventional forces’ communications and networking improvements/upgrades.
