Scabbard Dome
Abstract
Scabbard Dome is a late FY 2023 new-start project that will develop and demonstrate solutions for protecting standoff munition seekers against directed energy (DE) countermeasures and weapons by delivering DE-resilient and “alternative” low-size, weight, power, and cost (SWaP-C) materials for subsonic standoff weapon electro-optical/infrared/radiofrequency (EO/IR/RF) seekers and apertures. This capability will enable uninterrupted and lethal employment of standoff munitions against DE weapons and DE-protected targets. Scabbard Dome will also apply hardening or DE resistance to munitions to increase Department of Defense (DoD) weapon system effectiveness.
