Information Theory for Wireless Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (ITMANET)

Abstract

The Information Theory for Wireless Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (ITMANET) program created an information theory for ad hoc mobile wireless networking in the absence of wired infrastructure. Issues addressed included quantifying network performance in terms of throughput, delay, reliability, and other critical parameters as a function of node mobility, network topology, channel access protocol, bandwidth efficiency, and the overhead incurred through the exchange of channel and network state information. The revolutionary new and powerful information theory developed under ITMANET will enable the next generation of DoD wireless networks and provide insight concerning the acquisition and deployment of nearer-term systems.
