SURVEY OF NATIONAL RAMJET PROGRAM

Abstract

The ramjet engine program has 8 groups engaged in development and testing projects covering engines designed for M = 2.0 to 4.0 and ranging in diameter from 14 to 43 in. Of these, two 20-in. engines are being developed solely for research purposes; the others are applicable to specific guided missiles (the Navajo (Mk770), Talos, Meteor, Hermes B-1, Hermes II, and Rigel). A short description is given of the scope and status of each project. Generally, the over-all program is considered well integrated and without undesirable duplication. Greater exchange of information between the projects is desirable, especially in the form of informal symposia.
