COMPOSITION, PROPERTIES, AND STRUCTURE OF PROTEINS, AMINO ACIDS, AND PEPTIDES

Abstract

L-and D-Amino acids: D-Glutamic acid (I), D-valine, and D-tyro sine were prepared by enzymic or alkaloid resolutions. Difficulties encountered with the enzymic procedure necessitated the alkaloid preparation of D-ornithine, I, and D-serine. Peptides: Tripeptides were synthesized without racemization by coupling Z. Ala.OH with H.Ala-Ala.OBz. The synthesis of hydrocholrides of pentapeptide and decapeptide corresonding to Gramiciden-S are reported.
