A LOW-TEMPERATURE ADAPTOR FOR THE NORELCO HIGH-ANGLE SPECTROMETER

Abstract

A description is given of a simple adapter which was developed for use with the Norelco high-angle spectrometer with samples cooled to 78 deg K. The cryostat consists of a sample holder, an insulated open chamber for liquid N, and an insulated cover to prevent ice formation near the sample. The device was successfully used to investigate the transition in magnetite down to 78 deg K.
