MOTIVATIONAL FACTORS IN PRODUCTIVITY

Abstract

Research was conducted on the identification and measurement of those human variables which have an impact upon effective group functioning. Completed research is reported on an efficiency rating study; a conference of research administrators in May 1952 (Wechsler, I.R. and Brown, Paula, editors, Evaluating Research and Development, Univ. of Calif., Los Angeles, 1953); a multirelational sociometric survey technique; job satisfaction, productivity, and morale; developing social sensitivity in leaders; a clinical rating study; and a scientific attitude study. Progress reports are presented on the social system of a laboratory; social sensitivity in participative discussion groups; flexibility in leadership; the relationship between human organizations research and industry; and the criterion problem.
