REMARKS ON SPECTRA OF STILBENE DERIVATIVES

Abstract

The effects of substitutions on stilbene spectra are predicted by the first-order perturbation theory. The first excited state of stilene was odd. The intensity increments were additive for the different constituents and established an even-odd transition. (Published in J. Am. Chem. Soc. 74:2376, 1952)
