PURIFICATION OF HYDROCARBONS FOR USE AS SOLVENTS IN FAR ULTRAVIOLET SPECTROSCOPY
Abstract
Heptane, isopentane, 3-methylpentane, and methylcyclohexane were successfully purified to give transmissions to 1750 A in 0.5-in. cells. The hydrocarbons formed transparent glasses at liquid-N temperatures with a slight improvement in transmission.
