LOKI WIND RESPONSE ANALYSIS

Abstract

An analysis is presented of the effect of an arbiyrary wind distribution on the trajectory of a Loki missile to rocket burnout. THe wind is treated as a perturbation on the trajectory, and the effect of thrust malalignment is neglected. Sideways momentum and angular momentum imparted by a unit wind impulse are calculated and used for the step-by-step calculation of the flight path deviation caused by the impulse. Results for use in the design of a computer to correct for wind are presented in tems of parameters adaptable for correcting for varying winds.
