TEACHER BEHAVIOR RATINGS AS A CRITERION OF TEACHER EFFECTIVENESS

Abstract

A set of 32 observer rating scales was developed for determining teaching effectiveness on the basis of teacher behavior. Elementary-classroom situations were observed by 2 people who made independent ratings according to the scales. A statistical analysis of the results indicated that most of the scales needed complete revision to achieve reliability in terms of correlation. An approach utilizing student behavior was suggested.
