ELECTRICAL RESISTIVITY OF SODIUM AND SODIUM-POTASSIUM ALLOYS

Abstract

The electrical resistivities of Na and Na-K alloys were studied over a range of 800 deg C with a 347 stainless steel conductivity cell and Ni terminals. The maximum deviations of electrical resistivity values from the reported values were 0.5% for Na, + or - 4.0% for Na-58%K, and + or - 8.0% for Na-78%K. The thermal conductivities, calculated from the measured resistance using the Wiedmann-Franz-Lorenz equation, were within + or - 2.5% of reported experimental values.
