MODIFICATION OF STANDARD NETWORK SYNTHESIS TECHNIQUES TO USE LOSSY ELEMENTS

Abstract

A method is presented for adapting standard network synthesis techniques to yield circuits having lossy elements. The usual procedures of synthesizing transfer impedances or transfer functions can be modified so that the final circuit has a resistance in series with each inductance and a resistance in parallel with each capacitance. The procedure used in the inverse of the one outlined by Guillemin (Communications Networks, Vol II, John Wiley, N.Y., 1951) for calculating the effect of lossy elements.
