THREE-DIMENSIONAL PLASTIC FLOW UNDER UNIFORM STRESS

Abstract

An investigation was made of the most general 3-dimensional flow field possible under a uniform state of stress at the yield limit. Two cases are distinguished: (1) the regular case in which all the principal components of the stress deviation are different from zero; and (2) the degenerate case in which some of these components are zero. In the first case the velocity field involves an arbitrary constant, but no arbitrary functions. In the degenerate case 2 arbitrary functions are involved.
