HISTORICAL GEOGRAPHY: STATUS OF RESEARCH IN AMERICAN GEOGRAPHY

Abstract

Historical geography is considered the study of the geography of the past and of geographic changes through time. A survey was made of the literature concerning the tradition of historical geography, including the general history of geographical study and that of American geography. Suggestions are presented concerning research, training, and teaching of historical geography.
