GEOGRAPHIC CARTOGRAPHY: STATUS OF RESEARCH IN AMERICAN GEOGRAPHY

Abstract

A survey was made of the literature concerning the development of geographic cartography, cartography at the beginning of World War I, cartography and mass production techniques, growth of geodetic control, development from the air, development of new map types, development of map libraries and map analysis, current status of cartography. Essential research as the basis of map production is recommended.
