TEFLON BEARING PROJECT (TASK NOPI-RE8-1-77-51)

Abstract

Results of Teflon bearings showed that they were not suitable for instrument bearing applications in their present state of development. Sapphire bearing were subject to friction oxidation of the shaft and chipping where vibration was present; they should not be used as a ball substitute.
