HANDBOOK OF ACOUSTIC NOISE CONTROL. VOLUME II. NOISE AND MAN

Abstract

Volume II, which is intended as a guide in solving the problem of noise control, discusses the ways in which acoustic noise can be undesireable. The topics treated in particular are: basic bio-and psycho acoustic data; effects of noise on human behavior; and human response criteria for noise control. Several subjective responses were analyzed and correlated with properties of the physical stimuli. Definitions of bio-acoustic terminology are given with a description of the anatomy of the ear and the properties of aural protective devices.
