STABILITY OF NONLINEAR CIRCUITS

Abstract

An analysis is made of the stability of the various states of equilibrium of circuits containing a nonlinear element. This stability is dependent upon the dynamic current-voltage characteristics of the element and cannot be determined from the static characteristic alone. The speed with which triggering takes place between 2 states of equilibrium is governed by the manner in which the slope of the dynamic characteristic depends upon rates of change of current and voltage and therefore upon the reactive circuit elements.
