THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE CREEP AND TENSILE PROPERTIES AT ELEVATED TEMPERATURE OF NIMONIC 80-II

Abstract

A few experiments on creep recovery showed that the arguments of an earlier report (NGTE Report No. R100) could be improved and made more general. A new form of time-temperature variable was proposed which, without change of constants, satisfactorily coordinates NPL and Mond Nickel Co. long-time creep data on Nimonic 80, NGTE short-time creep test data on Nimonic 80 drawn from store, and Mond Nickel longtime data for an early heat of Nimonic 80A. Support was obtained for the Andrade formula for creep. (Engineer 193:658, 692, 1952).
