EVALUATION OF A 20-FT BY 48-FT, STRAIGHT-SIDED, GABLED-ROOF, PREFABRICATED WOODEN BUILDING, NORTHERN TYPE, MANUFACTURED BY MODULAR STRUCTURES, INC., LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA

Abstract

This structure was evaluated to determine its adequacy for advanced-base use. The evaluation included a study of packaging and crating; erection; weathertightness; and structural adequacy for specified snow, wind, and floor loadings. The building had a shipping cube of 302.5 cu ft, a shipping weight of 12,320 lb; and an erection time of 89.4 man-hr int he third erection. It was weathertight and structurally adequate under the structural loading specifications of the Navy. Repalcing the hard pressed fiberboard exterior sheeting with corrugated sheeting reduced the cubage to 247.5 cu ft and the total weight to 10,600 lb.
