PILOTS' EVALUATION OF THE DOUGLAS XF4D-1 ''SKYRAY''

Abstract

The Pilots' Evlauation of the XF4D-l reveals that it is an exceptionally high performance airplane. It is one of the few airplanes that combine excellent low speed handling characteristics with outstanding climb and high speed ability. The short landing and takeoff characteristics are comparable to our jet trainer types. The airplane is potentially adaptable to the Air Force air superiority, interceptor, and day fighter missions.
