AN ESSAY KEY FOR THE PHOTO IDENTIFICATION OF FARM CROPS AT SEVERAL INTERVALS DURING THE GROWING SEASON IN NORTHERN ILLINOIS. PART IV. PHOTO APPEARANCE OF CORN FIELDS

Abstract

The aerial-photographic characteristics which differentiate corn fields from other crops during the growing season are discussed: nubby texture, shadows, late harvest date, shocks, and tonal values. Farm practices which affect the photo appearance of corn fields are date of cultivation, date and method of harvest, crop uses, seed variety, planting date, field preparation, fertilization, and prior land use. Aerial stereopairs of corn fields during different growth intervals are included. (See also AD-15 690)
