Benox Report. An Exploratory Study of the Biological Effects of Noise.

Abstract

With the development of more and more powerful jet engines for aircraft, the noise produced by such engines is becoming an increasingly serious hazard to the personnel on the flight line and on the flight decks of aircraft carriers. The BENOX group of scientists was organized to make a survey of existing information, to conduct preliminary experiments, and to make recommendations as to the course of action to be followed in order that men can continue to perform effectively in situations where intensity of levels of noise are very high.
