A STEAM POWERPLANT FOR AN AIRPLANE EQUIPPED WITH BOUNDARY-LAYER CONTROL AND APPENDIXES-A-C

Abstract

This report covers a nearly silent, lightweight steam power plant for aviation, that is particularly well suited to the special requirements of a fixed-wing, boundary layer control airplane capable of wide speed range and short field performance. This steam power plant will be able to burn all military vehicle or aircraft fuels. Atomic fuels can undoubtedly be adapted when available. Therefore, a re-examination of steam for power and propulsion is timely and desirable.
