FUNCTIONAL SPECIFICATIONS FOR A VOICE COMMUNICATIONS TRAINING DEVICE,

Abstract

A device is described which was designed for voice communications training. The functional characteristics of the trainer are discussed with respect to (1) applicability to group and individual instruction and (2) face validity and versality. A tape loop recorder-reproducer, a S/N meter, and a rate meter are basic components of the trainer because previous research has demonstrated their importance to intelligibility. Suggested utilization of the trainer is discussed.
