DEVELOPMENT OF THE FLAMINATOR

Abstract

A laboratory model surface removal tool was constructed which combined a flame treating burner with a rotary wire brush. Tests were conducted with this unit (identified as a Flaminator) on various types of both contaminated and uncontaminated samples to establish specifications for the various components. A completely portable experimental field Flaminator was constructed to meet these specifications and for evaluation at a nuclear weapons proving ground.
