Gauge Installation Tool.

Abstract

The patent application relates to a tool for installing a strain gauge on the inside surface of a solid propellant rocket motor. A main tube having a gauge installing arm pivotally attached to the end is inserted into the rocket motor to a predetermined depth with the strain gauge held in position on the end of the pivot arm by means of a vacuum. The arm is pivoted 90 degrees and extended so that the gauge contacts the surface and is bonded with adhesive after which the vacuum is released and the arm realigned and the tube withdrawn.
