Atomic Resonance Optical Filter-Detector.

Abstract

The patent application relates to a filter-detector which is capable of narrowing the bandwidth of an optical signal at the receiver until substantially all noise outside a specific signal bandwidth is excluded. It uses an atomic resonance optical filter detector having an atomic or molecular vapor cell used in conjunction with a pair of optical filters. This system produces an intrinsic wavelength shift in the fluorescence radiation which thereby provides an improved input-output isolation for the resonance filter.
