DESIGN OF VENTILATED CLOTHING

Abstract

The purpose of ventilation of clothing is reviewed and the functions of convective and evaporative cooling are described. How to achieve these functions is discussed in detail be describing the principles of proper air distribution, effective evaporation, and full utilization of convective cooling in ventilated clothing assemblies. A description of various ventilation garments is given to demonstrate the evolution of principles and, finally, an ideal ventilating system is defined.
