RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN CERTAIN ASPECTS OF PERSONALITY AND SOME VOCAL EFFECTS OF DELAYED SPEECH FEEDBACK

Abstract

It is not an unusual occurrence to observe changes in the speech patterns of certain individuals under conditions of stress. However, this phenomenon becomes critical in many military situations particularly where tactical operations are involved. The degree to which speech intelligibility is reduced under stress conditions varies for different individuals. One important variable which seems to contribute to reduced speech intelligibility Is the personality characteristics of the communicator. It is an investigation of the degree personality traits and several speech variables which is the objective of this study.
