A PHASE HEIGHT AND AMPLITUDE RECEIVING AND RECORDING SYSTEM FOR MEASURING IONOSPHERIC WINDS

Abstract

A description is given of equipment designed and built for measuring changes in phase and ampli(over) tude of pulsed radio waves reflected from the ionosphere. Phase measurements are made by integrating a dc signal over the time period between zero crossings of the transmitted and received signals. Amplitude measurements are made by peak detection of gated echo pulses. Recording is in analog form on dual-channel magnetic tape. (Author)
