UTILIZATION OF MAGNACARD AS A DISPLAY DEVICE

Abstract

A description is presented of the research and development work accomplished on a new technique for information storage and retrieval. This new technique, called Magnavue, combines photographic and magnetic information on a single 1- by 3-inch card. These cards can be processed on standard Magnacard equipment, and the pictorial information presented either on a viewing screen or reproduced as hard copy. Photographs of the equipment constructed in the feasibility study support the description of this equipment. A complete Magnavue storage and retrieval system is also described. The complete system includes: (a) card-handling and display unit, (b) quickaccess files, (c) electronic control unit, (d) data processor, and (e) magnascriber.
