METABOLISM OF CORTISOL BY SUBCELLULAR FRACTIONS OF THE RAT LIVER

Abstract

The metabolism of cortisol by the subcellular fractions of the rat liver was investigated in order to determine the intracellular distribution of enzymes responsible for the formation of various cortisol metabolites. With and without addition of a TPNH-regenerating system differences were observed in the metabolism of cortisol by the nuclei, mitochondria, microsomes and supernatant fractions of the rat liver. Six metabolites were isolated and identified. (Author)
