MATHEMATICAL MODELS IN RESEARCH WITH CHILDREN

Abstract

The role of an observing response in discrimination learning by fifth and sixth graders is analysed. The reason for discussing this particular study is that it deals with a complex learning situation which can be analyzed in quantitative detail by an extremely simple set of learning axioms. In developing the theory that is needed to analyze the data an attempt was made to clarify the various functions of a formal model. (Author)
