LUNAR TRAJECTORY STUDIES AND AN APPLICATION TO LUNIK III TRAJECTORY PREDICTION

Abstract

A summary is given of technical accomplishments pertaining to three relatively closely connected areas: (1) design of a fast, accurate, and efficient computer program for computation of lunar trajectories; (2) an application of the resulting computer program to an error analysis of specific lunar trajectories and to the determination of some actual trajectories (as an example the trajectory of LUNIK III is considered in detail); and (3) tracking program (determination of initial conditions to be used in the equations of motion).
