ARCTIC WINTER ENVIRONMENTAL TEST OF MORTAR, 81-MM, M29 USING CARTRIDGES, M362 AND XM374

Abstract

The test was designed to furnish data for determining the firing capabilities of the M29 mortar when using the M362 and XM374 rounds under arctic winter conditions. Firing consisted of a series of single-round shots with various propelling charges during which the pressure level and temperature-rise and decay were recorded. It is concluded that the data generated are applicable to the heat-transfer studies of the 81-mm, M29 mortar. (Author)
