INVISCID MODES OF INSTABILITY FOR FLOW IN A CURVED CHANNEL

Abstract

The inviscid modes of instability are investigated for the flow between concentric circular cylinders due to the combined effects of rotation and of a constant pressure gradient acting round the cylinders. Detailed results are obtained for the case of pure pressure flow in the limit of the small gap approximation. The results obtained show that both convective and oscillatory modes of instability are present. (Author)
