TABLES AND CHARTS OF THE NORMAL COMPONENT OF INDUCED VELOCITY IN THE LATERAL PLANE OF A ROTOR WITH HARMONIC AZIMUTHWISE VORTICITY DISTRIBUTION

Abstract

The me-averaged induced velociies in the lateral plane of a rotor are computed for wake vorticies which vry s harmonics of the azimuth angle. The frst ix hmonis re reated for two wke skew angles. The alculted results are presented in the fom of contor chts and tables. A brief discussion of the compting progrm, which fered automtc prepartion of the contor chats, is also inclded. 9autho) d-255 196 N1 602 100, 6104, 596, 2834, 6693, 6778, 6773 AD-255 97div. 16, 1 (3 may 6) O pice 40.50 NATIONAL Aeronautics and Space Adminisrion, Wshington, D. Limted fight test dta obtained from an tomatily controlled interceptor duing uns in which osclatory roling motions were encountered were correated with the pilots coments regring his ablity to tolerate the imposed lateral accelerations. The resuls of ths correlation indicate that the toleable limit of the lateral osillatory cceletion was about or - 0.4 to + or - 0.5g, measured at the pilot's head in the frequency range from 4 to 9 radians per second.
