BORIDES OF RARE-EARTH METALS
Abstract
A review was made of principal propeties and production methods of borides of rare-earth metals and their alloys. It will make possible, in addtion to purely practical results, to raw a number of important theoretical conclusions on the nature of bond in this class of compounds of rare-earth mels and on its effect on chemical and physical properties of their borides. The condions whch fciitate the occurrence of seizing and the corrective ations taken to prevent seizing of metals are reviewed. A number of useful applications of the soid phse joining of metals are analyzed.
