ANALYSIS OF THRUST DUE TO THE COANDA PHENOMENON

Abstract

The tests made under this contract were the measurement of the thrust in a special nozzle produced by SFERI-Coanda. The particular nozzle discussed in this report is an improved design of that discussed in the report covering the reporting period 15 February 1960- 31 July 1960. The results of the earlier tests are not reproduced here, but the current report is complete in the sense that it states again the method of testing and defines the terms used in presenting the results. The Coanda nozzle is one of a number of applications of the flow mechanism generally referred to as the 'Coanda effect'. The objective of this particular application was in attempt to obtain higher thrust augmentations than are obtainable through simpler ejector devices
