FINITE BINARY SEQUENCES

Abstract

The investigation is described of the autocorrelation properties of quadratic-residue codes (of 1's and -1's), both in the periodic and aperiodic cases. In the latter case, results for 52 specific primes up to 2003 are obtained. Included also is an exposition of some work by Singer relating difference sets and maximal-length linear recursive sequences. A new proof is derived showing that the Golay error-correcting code corrects three errors. The report concludes with a detailed chapter containing new results on the error-correcting properties of Bose-Chaudhuri Codes. (Author)
