MAGNETISM OF METEORITES

Abstract

Research is reported on the Yardymly meteorite, which fell 24 Feb 1959. Studies show that it is composed of 95% kamacite (Fe, Ni) and 5% schreibersite, rhabdite, and taenite (including plessite). Iron content is 92-93%, and nickel content is 6%. The importance of this study lies in the reliable information gained on the mineral composition and magnetic properties of the meteorites. (Author)
